Best and worst dressed celebrities at Derby Day 2022
[ad_1]
Thousands of punters – and plenty of A-list celebrities – took to the major racing tracks to celebrate Derby Day on Saturday with some stepping out in style and others, sadly, completely missing the mark.
The dress code is strictly black and white – making it one of the most difficult events of the racing season to get wrong because there is a smaller colour palette to choose from. Not an orange blunder in sight.
Unfortunately there were still plenty of slip ups with towering fascinators that detracted from dresses, cleavage-baring V-neck tops and corsets and makeup that looked more Halloween-inspired than Hollywood.
With the Melbourne Cup just days away it’s a last-minute reminder of what to wear – and what to shy away from – this spring racing carnival season. So who made the most of the day?

The brunette beauty parted the crowds as she sauntered through The Birdcage in form-fitting, strapless dress that showed off her sensational figure.
The black frock featured an asymmetrical neckline as it hugged her waist and flaunted a hint of cleavage.

Proving the old adage that less is more, the model let the statement dress speak for itself adding just strappy heels and dazzling earrings.
She styled her hair back into a half-up half-down Bardot style, topping the look off with a pretty black bow.

Nadia Fairfax channelled fashion icon Jean Shrimpton on Saturday with the 33-year-old socialite and influencer donning a black mini dress that resembled the famous 60s icon’s white shift she wore to the 1965 Derby Day.
Key tweaks modernised the outfit, but there was no mistaking that Nadia was inspired by the former supermodel, who left the fashion industry to run the Abbey Hotel in Penzance in her early 30s.
Nadia opted for a frock that feature a shapeless tunic over a matching skirt, keeping the hem as scandalously high as her predecessor.
Jean had sparked controversy with her own Derby Day get-up when she stepped out with a hem that sat 4 inches above her knees, while Nadia’s was miles above it, hitting her at mid-thigh.
AFL WAG Tayla Damir and P.E Nation founder Pip Edwards bucked the trend and opted for a masculine look at the weekend event.
The Love Island winner, 25, ditched the frock and dainty heels favoured by many guests for a impeccably tailored suit and tie.
