Thanksgiving cheer from Hollywood! Celebrities take to social media to ring in turkey day

Thanksgiving is one of the biggest holidays of the year with almost 300 million Americans dining on a turkey dinner after watching the famed Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade from New York City.

Celebrities were quick to make the annual holiday a photo op as they took to Instagram to wish their followers well while baking pies, preparing their carb-heavy feasts and showing off their autumnal décor.

Gisele Bundchen, Kourtney Kardashian, Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, and others shared what they were grateful for as they prepared for some family time in their mansions. 

Thanksgiving is a national holiday which always falls on the last Thursday of November.

It began as a day of giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year.

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Native Americans shared an autumn harvest feast which has been considered the very first Thanksgiving celebration in the colonies.

Vogue supermodel Gisele Bundchen too to Instagram to show her followers that she was baking pumpkin seeds for her husband Tom Brady and their kids.

‘Getting the best out of pumpkin season!’ began the Versace catwalker.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, 42, posted a photo of her living room with a movie on the flat screen TV, the fireplace roaring and a Christmas tree lit up in the corner. 

Goldie Hawn’s daughter Kate Hudson was seen at home baking a pie as she kneaded the dough on the island in her kitchen. The Almost Famous actress was makeup free as her blonde hair was worn in natural waves.

Chrissy Teigen was also in her kitchen as the cookbook author got to work boiling eggs.

And the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model also shared a look at a pie she was making with fresh bananas. 

Linda Evans of Dynasty fame looked stunning as she posed outdoors with her dog.  

‘As I look into my heart to reflect on my blessings, I’m so touched to see how abundant I am in memories!’ said the blonde beauty who played Krystle Carrington on the soap opera from the 1980s.

Jessica Alba shared a throwback photo as she said she was feeling ‘grateful’ in a new post.

Jennifer Love Hewitt of Party Of Five and Ghost Whisperer fame was makeup free as she held up a mug with an autumn print. 

The brunette beauty shared that she does a ‘gratitude list’ every year. 

Alec Baldwin also took to social media to wish his followers a Happy Thanksgiving as he posted a graphic with autumn leaves. The star has not been seen much since he accidentally killed the director of photography Halyna Hutchins, 42, and injured Joel Souza, 48, on the set of Rust, a Western being filmed at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Sante Fe, New Mexico.

The circumstances of the shooting are under investigation. No charges have been filed in regard to the incident.  

Matthew McConaughey was seen with long brown hair and a baseball cap on backwards as he asked fans to ‘give gratitude.’

Keeping Up With The Kardashians producer Kris Jenner posted a quick note on an orange background. 

There were also celebrities at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade which has returned to its pre-pandemic glory.

This year’s 95th annual parade will feature 15 giant character balloons, 28 floats, 36 novelty and heritage inflatables, more than 800 clowns, 10 marching bands and nine performance groups and the ever-popular Santa Claus.

Parade rehearsals for performances were underway on Tuesday. NYC residents and tourists watched the pre-parade balloon inflation from noon to 6pm.

The parade is set to broadcast Thursday morning on NBC from 9am to 12pm with hosts Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker.

‘For our 95th celebration, Macy’s has created a spectacle to remember featuring a dazzling array of high-flying balloons, animated floats and incredible performers,’ Will Coss, the executive producer of the parade, said in a statement.

‘We can’t wait to help New York City and the nation kick-off the holiday season with the return of this cherished tradition.’

This year’s upcoming parade comes after the downsizing of last year’s which had cut thousands of participants, limited the route to one block, and of course requested spectators to watch the anticipated holiday tradition solely on their television screens.

With the increase in adult vaccination rates, everything has mostly returned to normal with the exception of children under 12 being able to participate from the parade as they have just been made eligible to receive the shot.
