School District Five students advance to national technology competition

Irmo, SC (05/15/2021) – Over two dozen School District Five students from the Center for Advanced Technical Studies (The Center) competed virtually in the South Carolina Technology Student Association (TSA) Conference. Competitors represented engineering disciplines, digital art, media production, as well as the architecture program.

Brianna Matthews who serves as The Center’s TSA chapter president said, “Being able to compete in this competition with my fellow classmates has been such an insightful and mentally stimulating experience. TSA is an organization that really tests your creativity and use of technology. The skills I’ve learned from TSA will forever shape my future to be a successful woman in my career.”

The Technological Student Association (TSA) is a non-profit organization of high school student members who are interested in STEAM-related careers. The organization engages students and their faculty advisors through extracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, and community service. TSA chapters prepare students to be successful and creative problem solvers, responsible citizens, and leaders in a technological society.
