(AUGUST 2020 EDITION) YOU NEED THE MIND FOR THIS GAME. Depending on the opportunity presented I will long or short and trend-trade, swing-trade or day-trade the active-contract-(month) of debt, currency, commodity, or U.S. equity index futures. I developed my trading approach to appreciate how markets connect in ways that can confirm clean, sharp trades. My trading-screen, my matrix shows me how relationships among things (direct or inverse, synchronous or asynchronous) are forming, persisting or changing. I simultaneously watch 35 charts to help me see relationships and the timing of those relationships. Trend-trading and swing-trading are better suited to steadily-trending markets. Day-trading is better suited to steadily-volatile markets in which a trading-day can run steadily in one direction then reverse on a following trading-day and run steadily in the opposing direction. I am comfortable going long or going short, as opportunities appear. I am comfortable switching between trend, swing and day-trading, as opportunities appear. My approach could be called momentum trading, but with a flexible duration-of-a-trade and an emphasis on confirmation-of-a-trade. My approach could also be called basket trading, but with an emphasis on entering the most promising trade(s) within a basket. I assume that the current confirmed cleanest, sharpest trade(s) is the most prone to following through, is the least prone to failing (to reversing), and as such is currently relatively the “safest” trade(s). To make and hold on to the money, trade for the peace.
