Map reveals location of the world’s superyachts – with Italy being the most popular destination

Glamorous celebrities have filled our social media feeds this summer with stunning snaps from their superyacht-holidays – and now a detailed map has revealed where exactly these grand vessels are this month.

The world’s rich and famous – including Elton John, Julia Roberts and Robbie Williams – are sailing the Mediterranean with their friends and family, escaping the crowds and the threat of Covid-19, on superyachts costing up to $352,000 per week.

Italy has been revealed as the most popular destination for superyachts, according to research by BloombergQuint, which has published a map exploring where the vessels are settled for August. 

Celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Paris Hilton, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union were seen catching some rays aboard yachts anchored off the cost of Italy this month.

Elsewhere, singer Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda have whisked their children away for a sun-soaked holiday in Turkey, while Tamara Ecclestone enjoyed an idyllic trip to Croatia on a yacht with husband Jay Rutland and daughters Serena and Sophia.

There have reportedly been 228 superyachts in Italy over the last five days, a 20-vessel increase from the same time last year, according to tracking data compiled by Bloomberg. In second place is the US, which decreased 43 yachts from last year.

Julia Roberts

During the second week of August, Pretty Woman’s Julia Roberts was spotted holidaying on a luxury yacht with her husband of 19 years, cinematographer Daniel Moder, and their three children in Positano.

Backdropped by the stunning Amalfi Coast, Julia, 53, locked lips with Daniel, 52, on the deck of the enormous vessel shortly before the Emmy-winning father-of-three took off his white T-shirt and leapt into the sea.

Julia watched on as her husband took the plunge and the pair were joined onboard by their 16-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus plus 14-year-old son Henry, who also had fun jumping into the water.

The family were cruising in style as they joined the former Chief Design Officer of Apple Inc. Jony Ive and his wife Heather Pegg on the yacht. 

The product designer left Apple in 2019 after 27 years to start his own design firm, LoveFrom.

Jony is believed to be chartering the boat they were travelling on, which is named Athena.  It was built by Royal Huisman in 2004 for Internet entrepreneur James H. Clark.  

The vessel, which can support 10 guests in five rooms and 19 crew, was listed for sale in 2012 with an asking price of $95million and reduced to $75million two years later. 

After the boat failed to sale, it was listed as available for charter at approximately $352,000 per week, and by 2019 the asking price was listed as $45million. 

Athena boasts a master suite, three double cabins and one twin cabin. The yacht also has its own gym. 

Paris Hilton  

US star Paris Hilton has been enjoying a sun-soaked yacht trip with her husband-to-be fiancé Carter Reum off the coast of Italy.

Spotting in Sardinia today, the socialite, 40, packed on the PDA with her fiancé as they continued to live the life of luxury on their Mediterranean holiday.

On Wednesday, the hotel heiress was again pictured living her best life as she struck a series of poses while onboard a luxury catamaran in Corsica.

Paris shared the glamorous snaps of herself to her 15.6million Instagram followers with the playful caption, ‘Captain Paris in Paradise.’

She tagged Sunreef Yachts in the post, described as being the world’s leading designer and builder of luxury custom made catamarans and catamaran-superyachts.

Pricing appears to vary depending on the customisation, but Sunreef has reportedly quoted a price of around $7.3 million for a fully custom catamaran, according to New Atlas.

The vessel often features two guest cabins, a children’s cabin, all en suite, and four crew cabins. The master suite has direct access to a dressing room and a bathroom. There’s also a dining area and lounge, as well as sunbathing facilities and plenty of storage areas. 

Tamara Ecclestone

Tamara Ecclestone has been filling fans with envy as she shared snaps of her dream trip to Croatia with husband Jay Rutland and daughters Sophia, seven, and Serena, 11 months.

The socialite, 37, whose dad is F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, and her family are thought to be travelling on the 45m yacht Tirea. 

It can accommodate up to 10 guests in five rooms, including a master suite and four double cabins. The vessel features a gym and beach club, and is available to charter for an eye-popping £187,000 a week.

Sharing even more holiday snaps with her followers on Instagram this week, the mother-of-two looked incredible as she slipped into a leopard print swimsuit for her lavish yacht trip on Saturday. 

Tamara stunned in her busty statement one-piece, which she teamed with a baseball cap and chic designer shades. 

She also wore personalised gold bracelets on her wrists, which include her daughter’s names, Serena and Fifi for Sophia, across each bangle. 

Robbie Williams

At the start of this month, Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda whisked their children away for a sun-soaked holiday in Turkey, and the family appeared to have a blast while diving off a luxury yacht into the sea.

It’s thought the family were on the Keyla Yacht, which is a length of 43.58m and built by Trinity from the US in 2003. Up to 10 guests are accommodated on board the superyacht, which was last sold in 2011 for an unknown amount. 

It features an upper lounge, a sundeck and an upper deck area exclusively for children. Outside, it boasts a dining area with a huge round 14-person table, plus two coffee tables that can be transformed into dining tables for 4 people per table. 

While the singer and his family still appear to be on holiday on a superyacht, it’s unclear whether they are still onboard the Keyla.

Last Friday, Robbie and his wife Ayda enjoyed a seafront meal with friends in Formentera, with the daredevil singer, 47, deciding to swim from the eatery to their luxury boat.

Ayda, 42, was transported by dinghy to the large vessel, but did enjoy a dip in the beautiful waters once she had re-joined her hit-maker husband. 

Elton John

In late July, Sir Elton John enjoyed a boat trip along the Mediterranean with his husband David Furnish during their holiday in the South of France.

The singer, 74, and his husband, 58, arrived at the port with their entourage before boarding the yacht, named Hercules II. It’s thought to be 32.91m in length, host nine guests with four cabins and five crew.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, The Rocketman singer was seen boarding his luxury yacht in Nice, France, as he continued to enjoy his European break with his husband David Furnish. However it’s unclear if this was still the Hercules II yacht.

The music legend, who is on a break from his worldwide farewell tour, was joined by pal David Walliams and producer Andrew Watt, hinting that they could be planning a collaboration for the future.

Andrew, who previously dated singer Rita Ora, was accompanied by his girlfriend Charlotte Lawrence, as they boarded the boat before it set sail for the ocean.

Showcasing his eye-catching sense of style, Elton opted for bold Gucci shorts and matching shoes as he made his way to his boat. 

Rebel Wilson 

Rebel Wilson has spent her summer enjoying a European holiday on a superyacht – travelling around the Mediterranean sea and taking in the sights of Italy and France.

She is vacationing with friends on the charter yacht called, Twizzle, according to Hello!, which costs a staggering $320,000-a-week. 

The 57.5m superyacht has many accolades, including two ShowBoats Design Awards – for best interior design and best recreational area.

It also reportedly boasts the following recreation facilities: paddleboards, scuba diving equipment, snorkelling equipment, kayaks, and water-skis.  

However, Rebel has come under fire for lamenting about her travels while endorsing a line of vitamins. In two Instagram photos shared on Friday, the actress, 41, posed on the yacht while espousing the wonder of a brand of supplements.

The Pitch Perfect star wrote in her caption: ‘Nothing rocks my boat… not even the stress that comes with getting back to travelling! I’ve been loving my @ollywellness Goodbye Stress supplements. These tasty gummies help me say PEACE OUT to the bad vibes.’

Yet followers were quick to criticise the post as ‘tone deafness’, with many pointing out that millions are still unable to enjoy a holiday yet. 

One wrote: ‘The stress that comes with getting back to travelling? Must be rough that travelling. I think there are like a billion people that will only ever get to dream of travelling. You are awesome but not this advertisement.’

Alicia Keys

Another fan of the superyacht this summer appeared to be Alicia Keys, who took a trip around Corsica most recently, alongside her husband Swizz Beatz, 42, and their sons Egypt, 10, and Genesis, six.

The Falling hitmaker, 40, has also been enjoying the chilled out holiday with her husband of 11 years, Swizz, in the South of France. The couple took a trip to Europe for both vacation and to mark their 11th anniversary.

On July 31, the soulful singer penned a gushing tribute to Swizz where she called him her ‘twin flame.’

She penned: ‘Soulmates, Deeper then soulmates, Twin flames, An existential earthquake, My souls mirror, All these are good but still not strong enough to describe our precious, precious love!!…

‘Happy anniversary my love! Woooooooowwwwwwww it’s just getting better!! I celebrate, honor and deeply respect us!! Here’s to many many many many more!!!!!’ 

It’s thought the family are enjoying their trip on the Andromeda yacht, a glamorous 107-metre vessel that comes complete with a helicopter pad and can house 30 passengers.

The luxury yacht was constructed for the New Zealand billionaire Graeme Hart. Launched in 2015 and completed in 2016, the vessel was initially named Ulyssess but renamed Andromeda after being sold in 2017.

Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union and husband Dwyane Wade have been soaking up the Mediterranean sun as part of their vacation with family and friends that they have dubbed the ‘#WadesWorldTour2021’.

And on Thursday the stunning actress gave her 18.7 million Instagram fans and followers another update on their travels aboard a luxurious yacht.

One day after flaunting their visit to the scenic French island of Corsica, Union shared a series of snaps of the couple enjoying the good life in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, in Southeastern France.

It’s thought the couple are onboard the glamorous Wellesley yacht charter, that costs between €230,000 and €250,000 per week. 

The 56.2m vessel was custom built in 1993 by Oceanco, a firm with its headquarters in the Netherlands, and last refitted in 2016. 

Previously named Anedigmi, it sleeps up to 12 guests in 6 rooms, including a master suite, 1 VIP stateroom, three triple cabins and two pullman beds. 

It is also capable of carrying up to 12 crew onboard to ensure guests receive a relaxed and luxurious stay on the yacht – complete with Jacuzzi and a gym. 

Heidi Klum 

At the start of August, Heidi Klum appeared delight fans with a glimpse into her stunning Italian getaway, posting several stunning photographs to her Instagram page. 

The model, 48, showcased her incredible physique in a pink bikini as she posed up a storm on a luxury yacht, thought to be the Harle, with the stunning coastline as a backdrop to the snaps.

She simply captioned the incredible post: ‘Buon giorno’ along with a series of heart emojis. The beauty had her toned abs and lithe legs on display in the skimpy two-piece which featured delicate chain detailing. 

She accessorised her perfect beach look with a pair of glamorous sunglasses and wore her blonde tresses in beachy waves around her shoulders.  

In a later clip posted to her Instagram, Heidi relaxed in the hot tub on board her luxury yacht while wearing a multicolored bikini. She showed off her pert posterior as she posed while beaming at the camera.

Heidi is joined by her daughter Leni, 17, on the trip who has recently entered the world of modelling too.

The 44.65m vessel houses 12 guests, with six cabins available and reportedly costs between $225,000 to $240,000 per week.
