Lucien Laviscount went from Grange Hill and Celebrity Big Brother to superhunk in Emily in Paris

Playing the love interest in a hugely popular Netlflix show is career gold dust, and now another British actor is set to follow in the footsteps of Regé-Jean Page as the streaming service’s latest heartthrob.

It was announced earlier this week that Burnley-born Lucien Laviscount, 28, will be joining Emily In Paris as its latest heartthrob for the sexy drama’s second season.

After starring in an M&S ad aged 10, he forged his acting career in British soaps like Grange Hill, Coronation Street and Waterloo Road, as well as starring in 2011’s Celebrity Big Brother where he hit the headlines after causing a stir by flirting with and kissing both TOWIE star Amy Childs and Kerry Katona.

Since then, his star has been on the up-and-up, with the superhunk landing roles in American dramas Scream Queens and Katy Keene.

Meanwhile Lucien, who is set to portray new love interest Alfie in the Netflix hit show, has plenty of experience with racy on-screen scenes, having romped with Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor in Snatch and Victoria Justice in the 2020 film Trust.

He was born in Burnley, Lancashire, and grew up in Ribble Valley in Lancashire. He attended Ribblesdale High School in Clitheroe and was also a member of Carol Godby’s theatre workshop in Bury.

Lucien has previously said he wanted to be an actor from the age of two and said it has always been his dream to make it big in Hollywood.

His first role came in 2006, when he starred alongside Zoë Wanamaker in the TV adaptation of the Terry Prachett novel Johnny and the Bomb.

He was 14-years-old when he landed his first big role in children’s drama Grange Hill, following in the footsteps of some famous TV faces.

Lucien went through seven auditions and beat off 100 competitors to land the role of Jake Briggs in the show.

In 2006 he told the Lancashire Telegraph: ‘Hopefully I will be in Grange Hill for a few years and after that I want to get into films. I would love to make it big in America or Britain.’

It wasn’t long before he landed his role on the small screen, and was cast as religious swimmer Ben Richardson in Coronation Street.

On 18 August 2011, Laviscount became a housemate in Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother.

During a stint in the household Lucien found himself falling for a then 30-year-old Kerry Katona.

She was won over by his boyish good looks and low-key charm and the pair were spotted kissing, hugging and lying in bed together.

The hunk was seen telling fellow housemate Amy Childs: ‘I don’t fancy this woman, I’m head over heels with this woman.’

Later, he flirted with the TOWIE star, snuggling up with her in bed and telling Big Brother: ‘You know what, Amy is a solid girl and as time has gone on, I’ve seen more and more of her and she’s cool.’

When Lucien left the show, Kerry admitted that there was a lot of ‘sexual tension’ between them but the ‘age gap is definitely holding us back’.

Although the pair enjoyed a ‘friends-with-benefits’ set-up for a while, Lucien later cooled things off saying he ‘felt taken advantage of’.

He told new! magazine: ‘The whole Kerry Katona thing was too much for me to handle. I’m not the sort of person to put stories out there that aren’t true.

‘I felt taken advantage of with the situation. I thought it was a friendship, but in her article [her OK! magazine column], she starts writing things about me, and I’m thinking, « The woman’s like how old? She doesn’t need to be slagging me off ».’

After the drama, Lucien told Digital Spy he was stunned to be considered a womaniser, explaining: ‘When people say, ‘You’re a womaniser’… I’ve got a big brother and a little brother that pull a hell of a lot of girls.

‘I’m in between and I’m trying to do what I’m doing. So I don’t know. It’s crazy when I think about things like that because my brothers just take the p*ss out of me.’

During the same interview, he said the experience had prompted him to push to chase his dreams, explaining: ‘One of the things that this house has made me do, especially the people that are in there, is that I’ve been passionate about what I do but this has made me so much more passionate and given me the drive to do what I want to do. I’m not just saying that – I really, really do want to be the best person I can be.’

The same year, he appeared as Jonah Kirby, a school pupil, in the TV show Waterloo Road, who fell for Spanish teacher Francesca Montoya.

His latest role as Alfie in Emily in Paris will likely be his biggest yet, with Netflix announcing he will portray a ‘Brit who gets under Emily’s skin before she starts to like sarcastic charm.’

The show stars Lily Collins, 31, as Emily, an ambitious twenty-something marketing executive from Chicago, who unexpectedly lands her dream job in Paris when her company acquires a French luxury marketing company.

The last time fans saw Emily, the young marketing executive had saved the day once again after solving an emergency involving the eccentric fashion designer Pierre Cadault.

Despite shining at work, Emily’s romantic life was unravelling as she found herself further embroiled in a love triangle between her neighbour Gabriel and his girlfriend Camille.

Though season one of the series was nominated for several Golden Globes, the show baffled many fans and angered some actual Paris critics who dubbed the show ‘cliche.’

French commentators slammed the offering for including seemingly every cliche trait about French people in the show.

Lily and her castmates announced the production had begun on season two on Monday with a fun Instagram video.

‘Annnd we’re back! Beyond excited to officially be back filming saison deux of @emilyinparis!! More to come. A LOT more!’ Lily captioned the post.

The hunk, who keeps his own love-life private, has previously been seen holding hands with Kelly Osbourne and kissing Topshop heiress Chloe Green.
