Class 7A No. 1 Thompson and No. 2 Hoover have been on a collision course all year.

It finally happens tonight at the Hoover Met and will decide the Region 3 championship. It’s also likely the first of two meetings between the large school powers.

9:26 PM, Still in doubt: Vigor leads St. Michael 26-21 with less than five minutes remaining. Cardinals have the ball at their 43. They need to win to make the playoffs. However, seconds later, St. Michael QB Josh Murphy fumbles under pressure and Abraham Daniels picks it up and returns it for a Vigor touchdown. Wolves now lead 34-21 with 3:43 left. Crushing blow.

6:45 PM, Celebration at Fayette County: Huge celebration tonight at Fayette County where they are recognizing 700-plus wins for the program. Congrats Tigers!

6:30 PM, Biggest game of the night: No. 1 Thompson travels to No. 2 Hoover to decide the 7A, Region 3 championship and the favorite for the 7A state title. With a load of prospects on the field, it’s not only a big game in Alabama. It’s a big game across the nation. Kind of surprise one of the ESPN networks didn’t swoop in for this one. We will be keeping tabs on it all night from the Hoover met.

6:24 PM, Setting the stage: Huge game on the Eastern Shore tonight as surging McGill-Toolen and recent South Alabama commit Braylon McReynolds travels to play Spanish Fort. At stake? The No. 2 seed from Class 6A, Region 1 and homefield in the first round of the playoffs.
